How is this image protected?

I went to this site and was not able to save the image in the center of the webpage. (http://oneimage.org/Images/pages/01cartoon201.htm).
I tried right clicking on the image, and use the save as... option, but that only brought up a blank image in my paint program when I tried to open it. When I try to highlight the picture, the entire picture blanks out. I looked at the source code, and could not find anything that was done to cause this effect. Can someone tell me how this is done, or at least how to get around it?
