cpanel .htaccess problems

I'm brand new here... great forum you folks have. Very informative!

I'm having a problem with a new server which is running cpanel. The problem one of my clients has a subsciription based website that uses CCbill for a processing company. For some reason the ccbill is having problems editing/changing/communicating with the .htaccess files on the server. They had setup .htaccess files and .htpasswd files on my previous server without a problem. But now they are saying that my server is giving them trouble setting up the files.

Has anyone come across this? And if so, can you offer some guidance?

With a prior web host, I'd had some issues with .htaccess and cpanel when I tried to enable hotlinking protection through cpanel. My .htaccess was getting screwed up by cpanel. As far I know though, that particular issue was resolved when the cpanel folks came out with a new version. Cpanel has their own forum (http://forums.cpanel.net/). Have you checked there to see if anyone has reported a similar problem to yours? They also have a bug reporting system (http://bugzilla.cpanel.net/) which you can check, and perhaps turn in a bug if you have a cpanel account.
