Hey Guys,

As the title says, I've got a PPT presentation that is viewable over the web. the problem is that there's a link on say page 6. If the user clicks the link, they go to the page. If they click back to the PPT, they start back at the beginning of it. Is there a way I can have the links pop in a new window so I don't lose my place in the PPT?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks Much.

Then it isn't exactly over the web now is it?

Either way its html. When you save for web using powerpoint its just html files. You can use target="_blank" on the links also in powerpoint itself you can setup where links should go, new windows or same window.

It is over the web (Intranet). I can't add target="_blank" in the Powerpoint itself (unless I'm missing something). ..

He means edit the HTML generated from powerpoint that is now the web version of the presentation so that the links you want to open in a new browser have the target attribute set.

But I can't do that (unless I'm missing something)? The URL looks like this:

https://intranet.com/powerpoint/Advantage.ppt

It downloads the PPT and as I scroll through the pages, the URLS are local on my machine from the PPT downloading locally. There's no HTM anywhere to edit.

Oh, we were assuming you had exported to the PowerPoint document as HTML (like you can do). Sorry for the confusion.

When you make the hyperlink in PP, is there any way to set the target, maybe some sort of advanced properties of the hyperlink? I haven't used hyperlinks much in PP so I'm not sure without trying it out.

I'm not a PP expert either, but nothing that I've seen looking here .. .

Okay no there is no way to edit the target if its a .ppt file however if you save for web which you can do from the file menu you can edit the targets. I'm not sure if the fancy effects if you have any will transfer over.

hi

i think you can try hilight the section you want to hyperlink
go to 'format'
click on 'Action settings'
on the first section click on 'hyperlink to' you should have options such as next slide, first slide etc
click on 'previous slide shown'
or last slide veiwed

Hi!

I have the same problem, and I've tried following some of the guidelines in this thread, but it doesn't seem to be working.

I have a powerpoint presentation saved as html. And when I try to edit the links (in powerpoint), I still see no option for editing target as "_blank".

How can I set the target for links as "_blank"? Do I open the presenation in another program in order to edit the links?

Hope you'll be able to help, it is much appreciated :)

Yes you need to open it in notepad or something that can read html.
