Hi, I copied the following code (and tried others) for a scrolling status bar. It works fine in IE and the IE view of Netscape, but not the Firefox view of Netscape.
<body class="mainbg" onLoad="scrollit(100)">
<SCRIPT>
<!--
function scrollit(seed) {
var m1 = "Worshiping the Living God in All of Life";
var m2 = "";
var m3 = "";
var m4 = "";
var msg=m1+m2+m3+m4;
var out = " ";
var c = 1;
if (seed > 100) {
seed--;
cmd="scrollit("+seed+")";
timerTwo=window.setTimeout(cmd,100);
}
else if (seed <= 100 && seed > 0) {
for (c=0 ; c < seed ; c++) {
out+=" ";
}
out+=msg;
seed--;
window.status=out;
cmd="scrollit("+seed+")";
timerTwo=window.setTimeout(cmd,100);
}
else if (seed <= 0) {
if (-seed < msg.length) {
out+=msg.substring(-seed,msg.length);
seed--;
window.status=out;
cmd="scrollit("+seed+")";
timerTwo=window.setTimeout(cmd,100);
}
else {
window.status=" ";
timerTwo=window.setTimeout("scrollit(100)",75);
}
}
}
//-->
</SCRIPT>
Is there any script that will work with both browsers?
Thanks!

In firefox view in Netscape type about:config in the address bar.

Search for dom.disable_window_status_change and double click it so it has a false value.

Your script should now work.

Most browsers have Javascript access to the status bar turned off by default.

Hi Folks,
Thanks for your responses. However, the dom.disable_window_status_change already was false. The Netscape status bar does display links, etc. When I go to the page that has the above code, the Netscape status bar displays "Waiting for www.faithefc.com..." Another note for what it's worth: the script is in the body of a main page which has an included page. So, depending on where on the page I click my mouse, the scripted message does or doesn't display. The page has nested tables, which must have something to do with this effect.
Any ideas? Thanks!
