View Full Version : Layout progress !!
Hi everyone,
I just started working on a layout for my personal site. It is very early stages, so early infact I haven't even thought of a name yet. Hence the plain blue box at the top.
There is no content yet either its just an image basically.
Anyway just tell me what you think up to now and give any possible improvements or suggestions ??
Thanks

Not bad, but I'd strongly recommend going for a higher contrast between background and foreground colors.

The bottom of the page starts to repeat the top part (I can see just the top of the "login" button down there).
Most of the text is a little un-readable, it needs to stand out just a tad more.
Great design, keep it up.
Nightfire: I was fiddling with files, please can you try again now should be ok.
Catman:
Can you elaborate a bit for me im not very good at design work so would appreciate it. :o
Brochris: Thanks for that. Yer it won't repeat like that once I build it properly.
More comments please if you wish

Low Contrast between Foreground and Background Colors
High Contrast between Foreground and Background Colors
Higher contrast = easier to read

Looks too big and bulky to me. The nav bar could be thinner. the top right log in "bar" doesn't fit in. Maybe too big again? Not sure but it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Those detail bit don't fit in either. Might look good on a forum, to show posters details, but other than that, I don't think they'd fit in with your design.
If it's meant to look 3-d, the top of the bars do look it. The bottom of them... well, looks like someone's just gone over it with a piece of chalk.
There's something else on it that I'm not liking too, but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe the title of each area should be put into those indented bits on the bars?
Overall, it's not too bad. Not the best or worst I've seen. Guess it's not my style of site.

The contrast is a bit iffy, change that and you should be fine!
Great work overall.

I don't want to sound like a broken record...oh hell I do, the contrast.:)
Also I agree with NightFire you could thin out the top a lot and it would go perfect.
Apart from that it is quite good.

yea, the navbar is much too big, and the contrast needs to be improved. other than that, its pretty good.
Hey guys
Thanks for the comments. I have modified the menu bar etc and I will post the revised version 2morrow, cos im off out now. (provided my hangover isn't too bad !! )
Thanks
Ok I have thinned out the navigation and login bar and change a few other things.
Does it look any better now ?? What else if anything should I do ??
Thanks

looks pretty good! i'd still darken that light blue, though.
you might also want to put some spacers in your empty cell- i think netscape has trouble with empty cells.
