WA 11-01-2002, 01:00 PM It was really a spur of the moment thing to add the links and in such a setting. The need to respectfully implement some advertising to offset server costs has always been there, however, more and more so as the months go by. The goal here is simply to reach a point where the monthly hosting costs are offset- lets face it, that is the most fundamental thing to ensuring that the forum will go on. redhead 11-01-2002, 01:10 PM could you make them open in a new window... then at least CF will still be there... cg9com 11-01-2002, 02:08 PM gotta do what you gotta do right? its not too bad, i just hope you dont get excited with the ads. mordred 11-01-2002, 02:29 PM I haven't noticed them at all, so I guess they are not to prominently displayed as to distract me from the forum. If this board has can generate some income to lower the hosting cost, then it's certainly a good idea to do so. We're all using this board for free, aren't we? cg9com 11-01-2002, 06:09 PM Originally posted by mordred I haven't noticed them at all, to be perfectly honest i didnt notice them until this thread an ad that no one notices? is that a good thing? hehehe scroots 11-02-2002, 01:23 PM i agree that it has to be done as (adverts being placed on CF) as the server costs are a fair bit and george should be able to recoup some of the costs. scroots Mhtml 11-02-2002, 03:14 PM Ah, I see em' now...Maybe they were influencing me subliminaly as I didn't know they were there but was pondering whether or not to buy asp & javascript books. I think I will thanks to the links... Alex Vincent 11-02-2002, 11:23 PM I'm number 16 on the links for JavaScript??? Hmmm....that's strange. I've purchased from Amazon.com many times, and never had a problem with the orders promptly arriving. Sorry to hear about your troubles. cg9com 11-28-2002, 04:02 AM its not that bad, i just went to "Books A Million" and got what i needed there hehe it was a little bit more money than amazon surprisingly, but its more reliable to buy the book thats in your hands i guess, and not on your moniter :) but i dont regret going to the store and buying them, even though i got the odd looks when i bought a stack of 3 inch thick web programming books, not to mention all the "when you start your internet company, come back here and share the wealth" jokes. utterly hilarious  redhead 12-19-2002, 08:03 PM ...... and then there were none ......... scroots 12-20-2002, 07:29 PM i dislike amazon aswell, i spent one hundred pounds (all my birthday money) on an mp3 player from amazon, its expected delivery date was the 26th of november. it is so called somewhere in the royal mail network, i got free delivery becuase i spent over £69, if i didn`t get free delivery it would have been around £5. My dad rung up and was told it is somwhere in the royal mail network, amazon cannot tell you anymore than that, they cannot tell you the code so you can track it through royal mail. scroots |
