I currently have my website running off 1 mysql database with about 5 tables in it; some of these tables will hold ALOT of information; would it be a better idea to make another database and put the big tables in it by themselves..... also how many sql statements is too much... i have about 4-5 for each page; i was wondering if this would ever become a issue

The real key will be normalization. Make sure your DB is in at least 3rd normal form and you should be good to go. Going to 4th Normal or Boyce-Codd Normal form can have some overhead issues.

could you please explain tpo me what 3rd,4rth and boyce-codd normal is... i have no idea what you mean by that

Before diving into learning 3NF and BCNF you might want to learn more of the basics first. Data modelling is a rather extensive area to learn. You can find some links to tutorials in this thread to get you started:
