How to write/read file from/to harddisk using jacascript? (On Firefox1.5)

How to write/read a file and a directory-list to/from the harddisk using a local javascript that's incorporated in a local html-file. Running on Firefox 1.5.
Could that be achieved somehow with the setting of
netscape.security.PrivilegeManager.enablePrivilege
appropriatly?



And how to sign a html-file plus javascript for Firefox: So far I haven't found one working example on the whole internet. I only found an example, where the author pointed out that it's not working correctly. ): Lol
I'm really looking for an example before i start myself spending days until I'm totally stuck. ): (Regardless if it's an easy or extremly complicated example.)

whatever it is you're wanting to do, i assure you, using javascript for client side file i/o is probably not the best way to do it. tell us what it is you want to do, and we'll see if there isn't an easier way.
