I'm about to build a web site, i'm new to this so i'm not sure where to start. It's for a business, i'll need maybe 30 meg space, from which php and mysql will work.
1. Do most servers run php and mysql?
2. If not can you recommend a few?
3. Do I get get web space with the people i purchase the domain name from?
As you may see i'm clueless about his sort of thing, so any advice will be mightily appreciated.
Thanx.

Since it is for business the steps to take are:
1. Create a one - two page document that outlines the requirements to the web site. Try to seperate "must-haves" from "nice-to-haves"
2. If you know someone who does web design, give this list to him. If you have no one to turn to, I bet you can find a few people who will quote you the job on this board.
3. Once the price and features are agreed upon, attend to your business (do something you are good at) and let the hired firm/person develop your site (do something they/he/she are good at)
4. Accept the work, pay the bill
... you savings on Tylenol may very well pay for the site :D :D :D ...

1. Do most servers run php and mysql?
As a basic service, no. These are usually a premium service.
2. If not can you recommend a few?
Sure...Take a peek here (http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/). Use the search, too.
3. Do I get get web space with the people i purchase the domain name from?
You can if you wish...It's up to you. What you're looking for is reliablilty, longevity, transfer, convenience, size, and speed. :D

Hi there.
I have a recomendation to make.
The site is for a business, I would use (and have used) fasthosts before now for similar work.
They offer webspace with all the trimmings (see the link below) for £19.99 a month or £199 per year. Let the client make the choice there. They can pay fasthosts the hosting fee, you the design and build fee and any techy stuff is fixed by fasthosts 24/7, any webby stuff is fixed by you.
http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/01_business.html
Now, on with the show, Buy the domain name from them - Its VERY VERY cheap £6 for 2 years of a .co.uk address
1. Do most servers run php and mysql?
Not all - you will have to pay for it but fasthosts.co.uk can help
2. If not can you recommend a few?
See point 1 and all the words above :)
3. Do I get get web space with the people i purchase the domain name from?
See point 2, 1 and all the words above. Domain name is one charge, space is a second charge - monthly or annually
Anymore questions let me know
