It depends on what kind of applications you are developing. I mainly do intranet and buisness apps and have been using .net for a couple of months now. It was more difficult for me to pick up asp.net then asp 3.0. Time should be adjusted for any project if you plan on moving to .net. The big change for me was that now I am actually programming (OOP) instead of using sloppy scripting languages. In a buisness environment I would recommend a slow and gradual move to .net. Is it worth it...In the long run for me yes it will be worth it.

it is a very good idea to change, you willl get the tool you are waiting for !! I cannot compare it with asp 3 or vb 6 !!
such a fun !!!! but of course you need a time of adaptation....

And be prepared to use ADO .NET too. Check out the Microsoft Web Matrix program you can download for free from www.asp.net

It's a good move - most of the good developers in my company have decided to learn it. And the reviews are great.
Some co-workers of mine have paid nearly $7000 for a comprehensive ASP.NET (and related technologies) course, based on their early experiments with ASP.NET.

I'm learning it.
In 2 years, I'm thinking I'm gonna be happy I spent the time and money now.
