General Site Opinion - Greately Appreciated

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions you may have for me regarding my site. The design is really the basic topic you will be able to comment on, as I don't have a lot of the pages up, and I haven't updated them to the new layout yet.

I quite like the front page though the scrolly thing to the right is a bit too thin... ??

but following any of the links and the left hand menu goes horribly wrong... well hard to see anyway, maybe if you stuck to the front page theme which is good ?

Heh, yes, thank you. I'll take a closer look at the news bar, and, yes, I am going to stick to the main page theme, I just recently changed it a lot, so the other pages haven't been updated yet...not until I get everything gone over. Thanks for your comments!

I have to agree with cg9com. I find the green color behind the navigation to be too bright. Its too distracting and takes away from the rest of the page. The rest of the greens are okay though.

well i do like the greens but i think maybe they don't go together. also, the main title could be more attractive. and maybe u should change the margins, they look too stuck to the left for my liking.

one other thing, i don't think #800000 for the text really goes well with the rest of the color scheme.

Mmhmm, text taken care of. As for the greens, I think they fit, but the submit search button might be a little bit too bright, as well as the pull down menus.

Main title...I assume you mean the grey image with large green text at the top. I kinda threw that together. With what I have on this computer though it's hard to create something much better. I'll look around a bit for a graphic editor or dink around at flamingtext.com. I agree though, it could be better. Thanks!

I agree with firepages about your "shoutbox"... too tiny. I also agree with the above posts - your title should be more attractive, the greens don't look good together.

Another thing I noticed... you're indenting all of your paragraphs with:

   

Which is fine (except for the fact that you aren't using correct HTML - see the link below - it's just good practice to learn how to code strictly), but then you don't separate your paragraphs - so what's the point of indenting them if you aren't separating them?

Also, you might want to validate your page's HTML with something like:

http://validator.w3.org/

to make sure your HTML coding is properly structured, and doesn't choke any browsers... and if you're going to post HTML tutorials, it might be helpful to use and pass along the "standards"; the more people that use them, the more influential it will be on the browser makers to conform to standards and not create proprietary garbage that web developers have to create workarounds for. Not to mention they will run faster. :)

Hmm, alright. I generally find ways around things, which is why I just went ahead with the   What matters most to me is how the page appears to me in MSIE and any resolution. I don't like Netscape, Opera, or whachmacallit other one. Not a good thing to do, no, but I'm not someone who has all day, 20 years coding experience, and perfection with eighteen languages. I simply do this web site for fun. Well, that said...heh, thank you for your comments. I will take a look at those links and consider your suggestions. :)
