swf file management needed, something that shows thumbnails...

Anyone know of a program that works like windows explorer thumbnail view, but displays .swf (flash) files?

That is not possible, seeing as many .swf's are few megs worth, and almost always are animated files, so the answer is simple no.

and, even ad;itting you zould be wanting to show the first fram, what about dynamic content? someone could try maing a program like that but i dont thinnk it would be very good

Just the first frame is fine, nobody has found a need for this??? I can't beleive it! Don't anybody use Flash?

Yeah, I use flash a lot as do many others, but I usually name the files so that the name reflects what the file is about.

In Flash 5...

open the fla file and move to the frame that you would like the snapshot of... click on file>Export Image> type in the file name you would like it saved as and make sure you select the file type (either jpg or gif) and you now have an image of your movie. You can then import it into an image editor (photoshop) and make it a thumbnail.

webmark, thanks, I was aware of that as an option, I was hoping for something more automated though. Any other ideas?

go to c:\windows\web\folder.htt

open it up, and you'll see that it's a complex mess of proprietary microsoft HTML and JavaSript.

find the following line:

var wantMedia = false; // cool, but may hinder media file manipulation

change it to "true". that might do what you want, in explorer. it's supposed to enable thumbnailing on movies, the way explorer thumbnails graphics.
