online registration scenerio

dear all, i shall put you a scenerio and i need some response about it.

here goes...
scenerio 1
i have an online registration page, where user/registrant will key in their details. it will then trigger an email to the administrator and user that the registration has been received.

then, the administrator will then have to verify if the details they entered are correct. if it's correct, another email will be triggered to tell them the payment details(assuming that they selected payment by credit card when registering). in the email, would it be possible to include a link with a unique reference number for each user to click and make the payment via eNets or PayPal?

scenerio 2
user registers online, then hits submit button where it will redirect to the online payment page(which is provided by 3rd party). after the payment is made, can the next page display the users' details that were entered as well as the payment that has been made?? if i'm right, the details would just have to be extracted from the DB that the user entered the details into, right? what about the payment details then, where should i retrieve it from?

Yes it can be done.

Most APIs such as paypal will send back a response, these days using XMLHTTP.
You will then have all the details from the online payment

Scenario 2 sounds like alot less hassle. I only have experience of PayPal's system, but they have an "Instant Payment Notification" system, so when users pay you with PayPal, it can call a PHP script (or other server side script really) to tell them all the details the user just entered, which you can then save in your database, notify user and/or administrator by email or whatever... I'm sure most other internet payment services will have this feature as well... although I'm not 100% sure quite what you need based on your request. Hope this is helpful.

thanks. but i do not want the 3rd party to know the details the user enters in. PayPal(or rather eNets) would only need the amount payable and their credit card details.

does this mean that, after hitting the 'Submit' button on the 3rd party's site, they will need the PHP file that we code to redirect the user to display the details which they entered??

i just need to know whether it can be done or not. if possible, give me some idea on how it could be done.

They need a return address to redirect the user back to when they have proceesed their order.
