lol forever?! :S

you will find if you run if for very long periods of time it may get a little warm.

Maybe you should look at methods of cooling if you want to run it for long periods of time......

Laptop Cooling Products (http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/Laptop_Cooling.html)

Hope this helps

If the computer is idle (ie not performing a task such as folding proteins, etc) and assuming the ambient temperature is not overly hot, it should be fine to leave it on continuously.

sorry Cheeseboy, i had to LOL when you said forever!!

if you are looking at using the laptop as a server then you should maybe look at having an inexpensive box doing that job for you, im sure a desktop machine would handle being on all the time better.

why have it on 24/7?

I'll keep my laptop running for days at a time but it is usually because I'll use it on and off during the day when I have work to do and I'm tired of sitting at my desk. But I usually shut it down when I haven't been using it for a while, I would also not recommend using a laptop in a role like a server.
