Hi,
Iím currently working on an application where I want to encrypt some of the data in the database, its nothing particularity sensitive, I just want to do it for peace of mind really, and so that if someone got a copy of the database they couldnít get the data.

I wanted to use AES/Rijndael seeing as itís a standard, and from what Iíve read is pretty secure, but there is no PHP implementation, that I can find. So can anyone recommend an alternative, mcrypt supports so many I have no idea what to use. I want something that will keep the data relatively secure, at least secure enough that any idiot wouldnít be able to crack it.

Thanks in advance,
Jack

If you're not overly bothered, then why not just pick any one from the mcrypt list? None of them are trivial to crack, or they wouldn't be there...

Yeah i guess i can do that, but i was just wondering if there was one thats generally considered to be the best/preferable choice.

Not sure if it suits your needs but you could try
http://sourceforge.net/projects/rc4crypt
