Well, some of the sites I go to on a regular basis have ads about the new Microsoft MSN 8 which was released today. The thing that I find funny is that all the ads are in Flash. Which is not a MS product. I wonder if Big Bill's going to buy'em????

MSN! run away! MSN want control everywhere and one of microsofts highly placed people said at the anitrust trial, and i quote, "id prefer it to be us contrlling the ariwaves". has anyone heard about this project windows palladium that will change computers everywhere? its anti piracy sceme is very sophesticated and internet authentication will be a regular thing. that means no warez, mps, divx etc on your computer. + all your hardware will be behind a sort of wall that will not let you acces them (ie, the RAM will be closed to your eyes). you can (and i think, should) use another OS than windows but your motherboard will still have the anit piracy chip. scary hey?

To paraphrase Privess Leigh:
"The tighter your grip becomes, the more computer users will slip through your fingers"
The open source movement must be supported. You can do your part. Use open source technologies in your web sites. JSP, EJB, PHP, Perl, Apache, mySQL, postgre, etc. Stay away from VB, ASP, .net and the like, you only succoming to the dark side!
Use the open SOURCE LUKE!

and, PHP mySQL are MUCH more used than ASP and acces as website solutions. the problem being that people are scared of linux. conversation between me and someone who a big windows fan:
me - you do know that windows 98 isnt a very stable platform?
uninformed person- yes it is
me - no it isnt, and its full of bugs!
UIP- it cant be at that price! and if linux is so good why is it free then?
me - because people want it to be free so that it can be modified and continually perfectioned.
UIP - you rely on second rate coders to make your OS?
me - they are as good as microsoft's coders but just do it for free
UIP -anyway its all command line
me - no it isnt
UIP - ummmmm..........windows rules so there!
so there you have it. people will believe anything (why would microsoft adevertise .net otherwise?) it just has to look good.

Whats worse is, dunno if anyone has gotten these but people using the 'net send' command and hitting your IP address with ads. I'll just be coding away in InterDev and suddenly, POP! Up comes a message recieved window. I've gotten only 2 so far.
Guess I'm gonna have to fire my Linux firewall backup again...

You can just disable the Messenger Service, and you'll never get them again...
