Ok.... I was searching & searching for a good available domain for a new site I am starting & fianlly found one & registered it..... however my designer really hates it & says it's far too negative & no-one will click on it or like the name & the site won't do well etc etc....... I've aksed a couple others & they seem to like it..... so I thought I would ask you guys here what you think!?

The name is snubb.com & without trying to seem like I'm trying to advertise too much.. to help in your decision I'll just say the site will be based on/around online forums.

Cheers guys!! :D

If you make it humorous it would work.
Sort of satirical.

from search engines point of view,
it is better to have your domain name after your keyword or the topic of your site.
sine your site will be about online forums,
it is better to have a domain name that includes "online forums"
anyhow, it may be your personal decision...

That is the one thing I disagree on SE for because you should be able to freely choose a domain name and not work 10x harder to get it SEO'd "/

Well, there are multiple sides to the argument. It's almost certain that a small degree of extra weight is leant to sites with the relevant keywords in the domain. On the other hand, who the hell searches for "online forums", and if anyone did, would you really want to rank for it? A vaguer term I can't think of.

The biggest advantage is to be found when other people link to your site. 90% of the time, they will use your domain name to link to you. In which case, a keyword rich URL is gold dust.

On the other hand, a short, unspammy memorable domain can serve you better because people remember it, can re-type it in more easily, pass it around more easily and just plain like it more.

Find one that satisfies both criteria, if you can

different market,

but it doesn't get more negative than www.despair.com
(http://www.despair.com)
and they seem to have done well with it...

most spell 'snub' with one 'b'

I read over and over that domain name carries no SEO weight

and I search for xxxxx forum all the time, perhaps not the online bit, that's kind of a given
