Hi,

I have made s simple order form for my website and I would like to pay somebody to do some Javascript coding to make it 'work'!

The form is at http://silverphotography.co.uk/mywedding/orderform.htm

All I really need added is some code to tally up the total cost and display the result in real time in the 'Total Cost' box depending upon the users selections. The figure that ends up in the Total box would have to be emailed to me with the rest of the form info.

My only stipulation would have to be that it would be as easy as possible for me to implement the code (I built the whole site and am pretty happy with HTML) and that I can change the prices / size in the drop-down menu easily in the future.

I would appreciate any realistic quotes - I can pay by PayPal or cheque.

My Email is trevor@silverphotography.co.uk

can't you use server side scripting to compute the total? doing this with javascript is a risk since the user can change the total before it is mailed to you.this would mean that you manually need to check all orders to see if the figures are correct...

Possibly, but I would have no idea how to implement that!

Users changing the total isn't a huge concern of mine as I am only dealing with 10-20 orders per week and, when I used paper order forms, I always had to check the totals anyway!

Thanks very much for your reply though.

any decent coder would know how.
processing this form, mailing the data to you and even adding a small admin-page where you get an overview of the orders, shouldn't take more then a few hours work. Do you have a hosting package that includes a server side language (ASP, PHP) and maybe a database (MsServer, MySQL)?

I wonder if things are getting a little complicated now...

Let us just assume that I'm not worried about users changing the final total.

I already have the form rigged up to formmail script and it is in use already so no worries there either. All I need is some code to pop into the HTML page containing the form that simply calculates a running total based on variables selected by the user.

I'll give you a free hand getting started. If you want more help....

<script
<!-- Hide this code from non-JavaScript browsers
function SubTotal() {
f1=document.forms['form1']; // abbreviation
q1=f1.quant1.value;
...
f1.q112.value=q1*1+q2+q3+....
} // SubTotal
// End hiding -->
</script>
