Hey,
im the summer im thinking of starting a 6 week/or so webdesigning course. There are so many to do, im not sure which one would be most beneficial to me.
I was thinking about MySQL/PHP courses, they seem to be quite important in a website so i was thinking about them.
Does anyone know the kind of content of these courses and the end skill you will achieve in the end?

Hello.
If you want to learn PHP I suggest learning an extent of XHTML because you need to know that to intergrate your PHP into your webpages.
It depends if you want to create stuff like Database Driven sites, PHP applications or whatnot... I am learning PHP & MySQL but I am not paying for it because there are hundreds of resources.

So are you learning through tutorials online?

Can learn for free very easily. I've not paid a penny to learn any languages I've learnt. If you get a recognised qualification for the money paid for the course, then I'd recommend taking it, otherwise it may be a waste of money. Obviously it all depends on whether you're any good at learning things on your own or if you need a tutor to help you.
Google and this place will help you out loads though.

But do you think its the same?
I mean when you pay for it you have an expert with you. Any questions you get answered without any doubts. This could apply with those who can and cant learn on their own.
How much have you learnt so far?

Not much I don't know really. Even if there was something I wouldn't know, google or members such as raf, firepages, fci, missing-score, etc will be able to help or know someone who can help.
If I wasn't getting a recognised qualification, I'd not pay for it. You could be paying to have 1 tutor and being taught the old ways and to code the way he/she does, whereas you could come here or wherever for free and be kept upto date with new methods and have several people helping and giving advice

being taught the old ways Exactly; a big complaint about the current state of courses is that many tutors are still versed in 1990's practices and aren't up to speed to the standards oriented approach; instead, they still bring out table layouts and spacer gifs.
There's an ever increasing number of very good books, written by very knowledgable people; if you are able to learn from written work, I'd advice these over outdated courses anytime.

Is it against the rules to post some places to take some online courses?
I'd love to see a list of recommended ones.
I bought a book on php.....might as well have been in German....I can't learn from a book. I do well with online tutorials though...
If it's not against the rules (yes, I'm a newbie) then please suggest a few.
Thanks!
