I'd have just a couple comments. It's a pretty clean and simple site, in my opinion. Nice work.

hey, lost.
Don't worry, this doesn't have anything to do w/ layout, but I think you might just not have caught this, and it's kinda obvious:
Here's Some Helpful Links.... broken down you get:
Here is some links...
*Bad subject verb agreement :)
Here Are Some Helpful Links...
For some reason MS Word's grammar check didn't think "Here is links." was incorrect... but... it is microsoft so... hehe
Anyways, I'm pretty sure I'm right about that...

Oh...BY ALL MEANS!!! Give me suggestions! I welcome them!
Anything to make my site better...I trust you all!
Ooops...your right about the bad grammer...I'll fix that. :thumbsup:
Ronald, Revelle, BroChris.....what's your comments?
Thanks

and since you're open for comments now :)
In Opera, you get a reallly sloppy top of your page. I just played around w/ some code but couldn't get it... I have to run right now but when I get back I'll give it another crack, or upload a picture showing the problem.

I was going to make just a couple comments: 1) your main page has unneeded scrollbars in IE 5.5 and 2) The animated images would all look better if they were inset like the one on the contact page.
That's all, you're layout looks good.
Thanks Dauvm & BroChris...
Dauvm...so it looks like crap in Opera? EEK! :confused:
I know I have some invalid Markup in the background image/ color section of my code. I can't get it right though...could this be the problem?
<body bgcolor="#CCCCCC" background="images/images/backg.gif" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" onLoad="MM_preloadImages('images/nav/ratesOD.gif','images/nav/policiesOD.gif','images/nav/contactOD.gif','images/nav/aboutOD.gif')">
BroChris...I totally agree with you about the inset image on the contact page... hehe...I'm not sure how I did that. How do I make the other images inset like that one in DW?
Also...I see the scroll bars as well... they don't really screw anything up, but are in fact unneeded. I'm autostretching, but I can't seem to get rid of them.
Thank you so much for your feedback... I appreciate it more than you know.
BTW... I'm still using IE 5.0. Bad idea?
cheers

It looks like the image itself is inset. You'd have to open up your image program and make that border.
Or you can use css...try putting this in your image tags:
style="border-style: inset"
The downside to the css method is that it only works in IE 5.5 + and N 6.

it doesn't look like CRAP, but it doesn't look like you want it to.
First, the correct way to write your javascript tag is
<script type="text/javascript">
ok... I had to play around with the padding in a few places and... did you know you had two body tags?? :o
ok, this is gonna be a lot of code but put this in from YOUR first body tag until the end of the table before the <br> and it will be all good.
<body link="black" alink="blue" vlink="black" bgcolor="#CCCCCC" background="images/images/backg.gif" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" onLoad="MM_preloadImages('images/nav/ratesOD.gif','images/nav/policiesOD.gif','images/nav/contactOD.gif','images/nav/aboutOD.gif')">
<table width="600" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" style="margin:0;padding:0">
<!--DWLayoutTable-->
<tr valign="top">
<td width="358" height="58" valign="top"><img src="images/images/FinalLoGo.gif" width="500" height="59"></td>
</tr>
<tr valign="top">
<td height="19" colspan="2"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="margin:0;padding:0">
<tr>
<td><img src="images/nav/space.gif" alt="" name="space" width="245" height="19" border="0" onload=""></td>
<td><a href="aboutus.htm" target="_top" onClick="MM_nbGroup('down','group1','AboutUs','images/nav/aboutOD.gif',1)" onMouseOver="MM_nbGroup('over','AboutUs','images/nav/aboutOD.gif','',1)" onMouseOut="MM_nbGroup('out')"><img name="AboutUs" src="images/nav/about.gif" border="0" alt="" onLoad=""></a></td>
<td><a href="rates.htm" target="_top" onClick="MM_nbGroup('down','group1','Rates','images/nav/ratesOD.gif',1)" onMouseOver="MM_nbGroup('over','Rates','images/nav/ratesOD.gif','',1)" onMouseOut="MM_nbGroup('out')"><img src="images/nav/rates.gif" alt="" name="Rates" width="68" height="19" border="0" onload=""></a></td>
<td><a href="policies.htm" target="_top" onClick="MM_nbGroup('down','group1','Policies','images/nav/policiesOD.gif',1)" onMouseOver="MM_nbGroup('over','Policies','images/nav/policiesOD.gif','',1)" onMouseOut="MM_nbGroup('out')"><img src="images/nav/policies.gif" alt="" name="Policies" width="107" height="19" border="0" onload=""></a></td>
<td><a href="contact.htm" target="_top" onClick="MM_nbGroup('down','group1','Contact','images/nav/contactOD.gif',0)" onMouseOver="MM_nbGroup('over','Contact','images/nav/contactOD.gif','',0)" onMouseOut="MM_nbGroup('out')"><img src="images/nav/contact.gif" alt="" name="Contact" width="118" height="19" border="0" onload=""></a></td>
</tr>
</table></td>
</tr>
</table>
should look the same to you, and correct to me :thumbsup: hope that helps...

You fricken rule dauvm! and all who have replied as well.
Thanks so much... I'll update it as soon as I can... Thanks so much. oh.. I already said that. And most importantly, I understand why my code was wrong. I'm no freeloader looking for people to debug my crappy code writing skills.
BTW... I'm not a web designer, just a puny audio engineer and studio owner. :D I have a web designer working for me but really wanted to give it a try myself. With all your responses and tons of reading from webmonkey, builder.com, and the forum tutorials, I could possibly want to swith trades! :eek:
Thanks again!

Lost,
First of all, i really like the overall design; nice and clean, overseeable, good strong logo. :thumbsup:
However, i did notice some inconsistencies between the pages:
The starting page (which can never be reached again by navigation, by the way?) is wáááy to wide for my 800*600 screen, while the other pages fit perfectly; the content however really doesn't need all that room, because it fits inside the window plenty;
The "Studio Policies" page comes up a blank (:confused: );
The "Contact & Booking" page is also slightly too wide; same thing as the starting page, i presume.
Just one more thing: i'd personally like the light gray background behind the white content area also run down the right side, so you get a light grey border around the whole area, just like with the left dark grey link area.
Ronald...
Thanks for your suggestions... I'm trying to clean up the scroll bar inconsistencies. Thanks for letting me no that there's no way to get back to the home page. Before, it was linked from the logo, but I must have deleted that link when I was editing code.
As for you suggestion about the light grey background down the right side as well.....I think that is a GREAT IDEA!:thumbsup: When I get a bit of spare time, I'll get that all updated.... Including your idea.
Thanks so much
cheers

the problem with that section is the leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"... to be valid you should scrap that... but that would give you a margin around your page... so you can replace it with style="padding: 0; margin: 0;"
I think the site looks fine... although to me the blue looks abit too harsh. There is also some other stuff not valid... you could go to the w3 validator check whats valid in html 4.01 (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www28.brinkster.com/loststudios/&charset=(detect+automatically)&doctype=HTML+4.01+Transitional)
Hope this helps you. Otherwise its a good looking site :)

I would also suggest using the w3c validator... it's a great resource. Opera gives you the option of validating the source of any page in its popup menu, so I use it a LOT. And unless you want to use redhead's link every single time, you're going to need to add a doctype declaration; html 4 transitional would be best for you, and a charset. If you can't figure out how to do that we can help. Viewing the source of this page will also give you the DTD (doctype declaration) for html 4 transitional. how easy is that? :)
don't forget your charset too.
You updated your site it looks good, but you forgot to update the code I put before the big mess of code I gave you. That included how to add the margin:0;padding:0 into your style sheet so that you could take out all the html margin attributes in your body tag, like redhead suggested.
also, changing the javascript tag to use the type="text/javascipt" attribute will save you some time with the validator later ;)
