I have php installed, i think... but It just brings up the black box. How do I make it work? PLEASE HELP!

what do you mean do i have the webserver running? I can't go to localhost because I'm not on the same computer. In about 6 hours I'll get back to it. Thanks.

you see.. I downloaded the zip installation off of http://www.php.net and I got the PHP 5 windows binary. Only that first download. Was I supposed to download more? And when I open the PHP group icons, all that comes up is a black box. I don't know how to open *index.php* webpages, because when i try to open them, it says i need to choose the correct program to run it. What did I do wrong? How do I even VIEW php pages on my computer?
