View Full Version : Show/Using ID values

Hi, I am using XML/XSL to generate a crossword table. Its a 15 by 15 grid (so pretty big), I want to be able to add helpers (such as 'Solve Letter/Solver Word/Solve Crossword' etc). Every cell has a individual id/name, eg, row 1 column 1 is R1C1 etc.

I've been trying to figure a way of:
1) User clicks in a form input box (1 per td cell)
2) Get the value (letter from crossword) either from hidden div element (beneath input box in td cell) or having the value already in the input value box (but hidden somehow).
3) Click on solve
4) Thats puts the value from wherever to visibile.

Please see attached for generated table output so far. (please add all txt files together to make 1 long file)

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I would have 15 x 15 as your test case and leave that number variable, so you could make small or big ones.
-unobtrusively make the crossword 'object' from 1 div per 'cell', no tables.
-the value of the text of the div, (not the tiny, tiny numbers?) visible/hidden
-you could right click over this div to solve letter/ solve word not solve game there!
-when you, and this is the funnest part, figure out how your going to store the crossword data, load the data, having letter a know its a part of apple and/or ant if its on a 'crosscell'.
-it would be neat on mouseover if you would highlight the word/words that correspond to the letter and the letter in a diffrent color- tight!
