View Full Version : Shared borders in different screen resolutions

I am trying (with somes uccess) to set up a new shared borders layout for my site.

I have the desired look all around yet in different screen resolutions the left and right borders appear to change size.

At the moment at 800x600 all looks okay but put that up to 1024x768 and the margins are wrong. Any suggestion.

Also would shared borders be the best way to do this or would I be better off setting up a frame on each page that held all the elements?

Alright, descovered the problem and will post the section of code (just gimme a sec ^.^).

The page looks great btw, and now looks good in both resolutions :)

Now, instead of pasting the entire page of code which isn't a bad idea but you'll be scrolling forever ^.^;

I'm going to post the small section for this (there's two edits):

The very right side, and very left side has two cells, one smaller one that rests on top and one below it that run almost the entire length of the page. But runs the entire length of your main content.
The edits are found here.

*You have two VALUES 1%
(one for your left and one for the right.
I simply made that 1% to 15
<TD vAlign=top width="1%" bgColor=#000080>

<TD vAlign=top width="15" bgColor=#000080>
Hopefully that helps :D and it's not too hard to find this little bit.

BTW, you have a lot of repeating tags
<div align="center">

You only need one. And besides, <center> is a depreciated tag, I believe div is too. CSS is the best way to go. I also noticed a lot of <font> tags, CSS is the solution!
Coding consistency is always good too.
i.e. some values are "quoted" while others are not.
Not a big problem, just looks better and yea.

I return to include url for CSS purposes... Topstyle, nice program.
