View Full Version : Firefox Causing Troubles

I have once again returned Firefox to its correct form on my computer, this is the 2nd time in 2 days and I had trouble once the week before.

This is what happens:
1. Bookmarks are gona (from the main bookmarks file, and I have to replace it with a backup)
2*. Bookmarks Toolbar will pop up, I remove it via then menu and then when I load Firefox back up agian it comes back

*Today, the bookmarks just disappeared and I didn't have any trouble with the toolbar.

And in what I think to be an unrelated issue-
1. I have about 5 or 6 tabs open and it is running great - then all of a sudden it "freezes" up and I can't navigate to other tabs. The task manager shows that Firefox is using huge amounts of the CPU. So I minimize the task manager and close firefox (via normal methds - the 'x'). Then when I pull up task manager - Firefox continues its levels of high memory consumption.

Other Notes:
1. I have re-installed Firefox twice during this whole deal - although not this morning- and it continues to happen.

System Information:
OS: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2

Any help is greatly appreciated - and if any more information is need please ask. I hope you guys have ideas.

Hmm, I would try disabling your extensions one by one and see if they affect anything.

Well - the freezing the only happens occiasionaly and its not a huge problem - I'm thinking more about the bookmarks. But it happens when I shut the computer down. then when i start back up - they are gona and I have to go through this whole process of starting them back up..

P.S. - I haven't been able to get Sys. Restore to work for a while - could this be part of the problem? Not sure just digging.

Like I said it could be any one of your extensions causing the problem. I'm guessing it might be the crash recovery extension.

I had the same problem with both Mozilla and Firefox.

I only have the Color Picker and Web Develoer extensions in FF.

A backup of the bookmarks and then a clean install fixed FF. I wish I could say the same for Mozilla.

I don't think it's an extension issue. I didn't have any for Mozilla. Just bare bones browser.

I assume you've done a virus scan?

Yes, and spent about 2 hours testing and its not extensions. I've never restarted so much. Any other ideas?

Ok an update - I decided to do what I really didn't want to do an unintstall all my extensions except for

Web Developer 1.0.2
Foxy Tunes 1.1.5.4
Fasterfox 1.0.3
IE Tab 1.0.8
AI RoboForm Toolbar For FireFox 6.6.4
del.ic.io.us 1.1
Tabbrowser Preferences 1.2.8.8

I guess I was just running too much - Haven't had problems so far so i'll keep my fingers crossed.
