Okay, I'm putting together a site, but I keep having problems with the images on it. At one point they were all working fine... offline they all work fine, but now online they either don't load, half load, or don't repeat. I've tested it out on two different computer with the same results. The really odd thing is that the errors with them vary by browser:

Opera 8.53, few of the images actually load
IE 6.0, most of the images load, but one doesn't tile vertically
Firefox, most images load, except one of the main background images

What could be going on here?

here's the site: http://www.bretthillesheim.com

Try to keep your image size below 50 KB, there are still people with a slow dial-up modem. And of course the graphics are loaded in a second when you test locally because most likely you load them from the local hard drive. Online they have to be pulled from the server in Kazakhstan and through a small wire with 10KB per second... all at once.

Well, I know the file sizes are a little larger at the moment... I havn't optimized all of them, but does not explain why they are not loading, and why they always load the same way for me in the different browsers.

Brett,

Im getting the same thing on both Opera 8.02 and Firefox 1.5.0.1, so I assuming it's correct.

IE is funky.
I'd say try using the filter for IE but that will negate the links working.

on the thumbnails images I dopn't think the pngs are nessecary. Since they are in the same place on all the entries maybe slice up the psd to make it a jpg. It will take a tad of work but will aleviate IE doing that funky stuff.

on the sidebar it will tougher but doable. I cant reall ytell if there is any opacity going on with the sidebar. you could probally make it a gif with the out line of that pinkish color and be alright.

the only image on all 3 of the browsers not working is the images/side_repeat.png.

making it a gif will fix it but might not be the greatest depending on how much a png is nessecary.
