I'm involved in an internship. I'm building a site for a small business, and the owner wants to incorporate a web version of a printed survey he has for his customers to fill out into the website. Basically I'm going to build the form, have the answers the visitor gives packaged and emailed to the business owner. The only scripting language I'm familiar with for doing that kind of thing is CGI, and my knowledge of others is lacking (read, slim to none), is CGI the best choice for handling this task or should I look into other languages? I honestly didn't know whether this would count as a CGI or general question, my apologies if this doesn't fit here. Thank you for your time.

Hi Greshgore,

See if the boss will spring for a copy of Macromedia's Cold Fusion. Or, get yourself a free copy of PHP.

Thank you very much for your reply, I actually have an older copy of Macromedia Studio, just never had an occasion to use Cold Fusion till now.

Crack that sucker open and go to the tutorial on building forms. They also should have samples you can cut and paste from. The older version of Studio is upward compatible.

You'll need to use a Cold Fusion server, so just check out Readyhosting.com--ultracheap, super reliable with good service. Plus they support more advanced stuff like MX.
