I am almost finished with a site for my small business. It's really simple; yet, I managed to somehow screw something up. I used DW MX.

For some reason...It looks fine when I preview it in DW and then I ftp upload it to angelfire.com and the heading doesn't line up.

See the black and grey backround at the top to the right...that auto stretches across. the logo and nav bar should lay exactly on top of the stretched background image, but seem to have a space above them which moves them down 1 space. Now they don't line up w/ the background image. You can see this space at the top if you highlight my page from bottom up. See it? Why is that there? I can't seem to get rid of it. It's not in dreamweaver!

Thanks for any advice...let me know if you need more info.
cheers

here's the site for my studio... it's my first try and screwed up! (http://www.angelfire.com/indie/loststudiosnyc/)

BTW...when I preview index.html file from the my angelfire webshell...it looks fine. But when I look at it from outside the shell it's messed up again... Can anyone tell from the source code??

Hello,
The problem is with the AngelFire ad insertation code. I don't know which part of the code causes the break, but when I removed that code the page appreared as you wanted it to. (I put up the page without the code at here (http://mattr.resource-locator.com/temploststudios/loststudiosnyc.html). The images don't all work but you can see the problem is fixed.)

So, your options would be to either switch to another free host and hope that their ads won't mess up your page or else pay for a host.

I hope this helped

oooh... that sucks...

There's no way to remove the code?? How did you fix it? If not... do you know of any comparable FREE servers that has the option for a pop up ad?

Thanks...

I saved the file locally on my hard drive then deleted the AngelFire ad code in wordpad. The problem is the code is automatically inserted by angelfire and there is no way you can get rid of it.

As for the free servers, there's GeoCities (http://www.geocities.com) which (I don't think) offers popup advertising but it's bar-thingy-ad in the top right corner shouldn't interfere with the layout of your page. Someone else here might know of other comparable free servers.

I would consider getting some paid hosting. It could cost as little as $5-10/month. PM me for a recommendation.

www.freewebz.com

Nice place, lots of space, and only one single line of code that you insert at the bottom of your page. No pop-up ads what-so-ever.

Cost --> no page stats etc and the server can be slow at times.

As for this line of code you have to include, when they insert it (or you can) into your page, just go into your HTML afterward and change the font size and colour so that it's not such an eye-sore. I.E make it smaller.
