hi, i have this problem.

I import a video file into flash using the import > video tool and go through the step by step, select my video appearance (the play button etc) and encode the video.

I then publish the file and all is fine, the video plays in my internet browser from the files from my harddrive. HOWEVER when i then upload these same files to my web server, the video does not play. A flash application appears (i can tell because i can right click) but the place where the video is supposed to be is just white!

I've tried this a dozen times and same result each time! Is there something im doing wrong with pathways in the code etc?

Please help, i need this problem sorted today! Thanks guys.

nb: zip file with the files - http://www.startbar.co.uk/testvid.zip

The fla file you provided in the zip file has nothing in it. Its just blank.

Umm it appears that you didn't actually upload the flv files.

I can, give me a few min. How did you upload the files? Using FTP? Did you use binary or ascii? flv files should be uploaded to your server using binary not ascii. Its working fine there. I still think you didn't upload your files correctly. The link is only temporary. I'll remove it once you see it.

Go to that folder directly. http://www.startbar.co.uk/11/
You'll see what I mean. I don't know how you do it on a windows server. Its usually through your control panel.

Look for directory listing or virtual server stuff.

I'm pretty much at a loss for ideas here. You say you uploaded your videos but I don't think you did (correctly anyways). I mean if you can make me an ftp account for just that folder then I don't mind uploading the flv files for you but thats up to you.

For anyone else having this problem. It could be because you are on a windows server. Macromedia is aware of the problem and has advised on what to do to fix it. http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_19439

Your server should already be on IIS if its on windows. Do you have like a control panel for IIS? No I can't help. Your server is your server. You need to contact your host on this one sorry.

ive just installed Internet Information Services Manager on my pc but i have no idea how to relate that to my windows server.

There doesnt appear to be any reference to ISS or a control panel on my login on my server control panel.
