Hey guys,

I setup a domain for running some experiments and was wondering what you guys thought of the design. Sort of wonding if I should change the background to match the leaves. Your thoughts?

Please bear in mind that this is a template and all I did was adjust the CSS and the uploaded new images. The template's mark-up could be a bit better (I didn't touch it on purpose though), and will be once I get ready to create the next version of my CMS. Not there yet.

Here's the site:
http://mikecherim.com

Here's the default template I made it from:
http://greenbeastcms.com/v13/homepage.php (which is free with the GreenBeast CMS (http://greenbeastcms.com))

Here's an example Experiments page:
http://mikecherim.com/experiments/css_list_calendar.php
(Please note that this CSS List Calendar experiment isn't done. The item isn't stable and will only look half way good with Firefox. I am giving you the link so you can view the template for managing the experiments and give me desing feedback.)

the Experiments will linked from the "Mike's Experiments" page (using the RSS Newsmaker to manage them):
http://mikecherim.com/newspage.php

Thanks.
Mike

Wow, you do like the color green don't you? :p

I really like it! Of course, I always liked your sites. Off topic, but I am working on a CMS for my site right now. Maybe you could help me out. Well anyway, I like the site. The eyes popping out from under the leaf is really ingenius and the semi-transparent effect works nicely. There is nothing I can critic.

Lol, yep, green's my favorite color.
If you need CMS-related info, but PM I guess. I'll help.

Thanks.

I think it looks good.

There's something about those fixed backgrounds that makes my scrolling kind-of 'stutter' or 'stall' or 'choppy' lol. dont know if it happens to eveyrone, perhaps just on old systems..

I like the whole translucency effect you have going there. One thing I really liked (for me its still simple things that count) is the footer links, I thought they looked good.

BTW very nice graphics, you design those leaves yourself?

Thanks. As far as those leaves I Googled some clipart then adjusted them to suit.

I went ahead and darkened up the sidebar archive links a bit. Looks better now. Also check out this cool experiment. Here's the post page to a link with the experiment. http://mikecherim.com/gbcms_xml/news_page.php?id=1

I can't comment on the coding, but aesthetically I really like it. The only suggestion I could make is that the calender page not be stretched to the full resolution. I'm running 1152*864 and it's quite isolated out in the middle there with all the white around it. Perhaps if it were more like the home page; a single strip down the middle with the same background.

Thanks Devo,

The calendar is just a sample. If it were in use it'd be confined to a side bar or something for sure and its text size would be smaller so I hear ya. All the white space is meant to be like my playground area. It's an "experiments" template I made so all I have to do is name the file and fill in a short config and then I can focus on whatever the experiment on hand is. Lol, something like that anyway.
