Is there a way to log when a user logs onto the network - for time keeping? IE I want to write something that can record when a user logs on and off the network then add up all the hours that user was logged in for that week.

When you say network, do you mean a network with a domain and an active directory?

In the windows security policy (its one of the snap-ins for the MMC) under auditing you can set it to audit/log successful and or failed log-on attempts. I know on standalone systems not in an active directory they get logged into the computer's security event log. I'm not quite sure how it works under an active directory.
