Seriously, try a CMS like Joomla (http://joomla.org) to get a decent portal-type application for free.

Not that I'm a big fan of Mambo/Joomla—the markup is dreadful, the hierarchy is contraining to work with and I hate portal sites in general. But Google will index it just like any other dynamically generated site.

Those are only homepages - it doesnt index the content - Google doesnt index any page that uses id in the querystring - and thats what Joomla/Mambo use for its dynamic content.

Not every Joomla page uses "id" in the URL, and besides, you're not tied to using "messy" URLs—there's a SEO friendly URL option.

Again, I'm not a huge fan of Joomla, but I've been forced to use it a bunch and I've never had an issue with content indexing in Google.

Still that's pretty interesting, I Never knew google had that policy. Guess I have some reading to do.

Sorry Nancy, no offence but that's absolute rubbish. There are countless pages with id as a query string parameter indexed by Google.

If you read the guidelines closely it specifies that it doesn't index pages with &id, and this refers to pages with session ids which aren't indexed for obvious reasons.

Normal dynamically generate pages with id= signifiying a change of content are perfectly fine.
