Rewrite rules question

Hey,

First of all I am sorry if this is in the wrong section I didnt know where to post it. Basically what I am trying to do is use rewrite rules on my site. The problem is I am having to use the exact path to the image ex: http://domain.com/images/image.gif instead of images/image.gif. Is there another way to do this?
