Virtual permalinks?

I would like to offer my members the option of accessing their homepages via virtual links like:

www.mydomain.com/membername_membersurname.html

or

www.mydomain.com/membername_membersurname/

or

membername_membersurname.mydomain.com


However, if there are more than one member with exactly same name and surname (is quite possible), I would like a page to be displayed, with a list of member names AND ID nos for example. So they can choose the right thing.



I guess this is Apache related. How is this possible? Are they called permalinks?

Not sure about your duplicate entires though. Usually you would use this sort of system with a unique primary id.
