A bit monotone don't you think? I'd recommend some color, any color. Also I noticed that when hovering over your side menu the element spans out further than the parent (FF 1.5.0). Perhaps a bit too much padding on the list items.

Perhaps once you've got most of the design sorted out you could have a crack at recoding it to tableless layout?

Apart from that it's looking good, good work.

bold black may look better...

Personally I'm a big fan of monotone so I dont see that as a problem.
I think your style could do with some consistancy though.
You've got a mix of flat solid coloured blocks, round gradients and drop shadows.
With the monotone I would say stick with the solid blocks of colour and add some more dropshadows on certain elements.

Also something to remember with site reviews is you shouldnt just do what everyone tells you to ;) People have varying opinions and preferences. We are just expression those - it doesnt mean you necessarily have to agree with them.

It is a little too monotone for me also. I do like monotone designs, but I think that a splash of color on important elements could help draw your visitor's eye to certain areas.

Besides that and the table layout, I think it's looking good.

Grey sucks when it's by itself, but can look really good when coupled with an accent color. Lighter greys with a dark blue accent can feel like a lively silver color, and can give the design a richer feel.
