I am about to launch my new magazine subscription site, SnappyMags, and I need your help in testing the site inside and out, getting all the bugs out!

The new site is going to be called SnappyMags and is temporarily available here: www2.simkhai.com

What's in it for you?

1) Test the site, browse magazines, checkout using Credit Card or PayPal,

2) Send us at least, 8 problems or 8 feedback bullet-points

3) We will credit $20 back to your credit-card or PayPal account!

All feedback must be submitted by Friday February 10th, 2006 to be considered. Send all feedback to log@snappymags.com

We have not installed the affiliate module yet.

Feel free to forward this to friends and family.

Thanks,

Joel Simkhai

1. No suggested alternatives when I type in a badly spelled magazine. A good search feature would do this -

There were no results for 'National Gographic', did you mean 'National Geographic'?

2. Add to cart button breaks across three lines on homepage in many cases.
3. Newsletter isn't well marketed. Not clear what I get out of it.
4. The regular refreshing is so annoying I don't think I could ever use this website and stay sane.
5. I might have been able to get to eight, but I had to close the site due to the refreshing being too annoying. I think the above four are serious enough that they should count as two though :)

I don't want a magazine subscription, but feel free to paypal me $20

I too find the refreshing rather annoying, I also agree with Pennimus' other points. I also personally don't like the font you used when displaying the category names on the category pages. It doesn't seem to match the rest of the site.

Coding wise, you have 81 errors in your code, including no doctype which can be bad for IE. Also if your screen resolution is set at 800x600you can't see the right third of the page withour scrolling. If I browsed and 800x600, or even with my screen not maximised, I would not stay very long at your site. You could easily fix that by switching to percentage values instead of pixel values.

I'm not going to beat you over the head for using tables to layout your site, but just know the Search Engines rank CSS design higher than Table design.

I would also recommend adding an RSS feed to your site, so that you can easily ping other news sites when you have a sale or new title added. It's a quick easy way of advertising.

1. The "Top Sellers", "Featured Products", etc. navigation text is hard to read.
2. Animated Gifs??? Did we not learning anything in "design school"?
3. "Sitemap" link at the bottom doesn't let me know it is a link - might be helpful for "average" users
4. There is a large "break" between Paypal and the other payments accepted, looks odd.
5. Why is TOTAL a link? Example. (http://snappymags.com/show_cart.cfm?PID=439&CartID=6693989C-C822-1A5A-D4DAE411BF2209D9)
6. How about "Advanced Search" down by Search where I would usually find it, instead of on the main nav.
7. Why not just make the Click here to Become an Affiliate part of the text? Just make that a link, and lose the button.
Please click on the 'Click To Become An Affiliate' button below to put in your affiliate application now.
8. Those default buttons look cheesy.
9. There is this little part of the nav that sticks off the end of the right side and it makes me think there is another button. (Firefox 1.5)
10. Dont make the copyright hover if its not a link.
