I'm having some networking problems

I've had a problem with address resolution for a while now. It happens on a WinXP comp only, and I can't figure out the reason for it.

Essentially, sometimes the DNS resolution from this particular computer stops working, and the only thing that I've found that works to restore it is to do a cold restart. When it happens all tracerts stops two step outside the LAN, but only from this computer, not from any other computer on the network. Using IP addresses instead also gets around it.

Anybody have any idea what could cause this?

While I don't have a clue to the solution, I have seen that problem before. However before I could get around to try and fix it, the computer had to be reformatted and the problem did not re-appear afterwards. Also I didn't have to restart, repairing the connection would usually temporarily clear the problem up.

Maybe try updating the drivers for the network card?

I suppose you could try and replace the network card in the computer to rule out the possibility of the network adaptor itself being faulty.
