Waste The Web (http://wastetheweb.com)

Thoughts? Improvements? I know the whole color isn't great... I was hoping someone could help me create a better template.

Thanks!

Actually the colour and layout work fine. All you need in my opinion are some instructions for Street Fighter :D

Looks pretty good. I'm not that big of a fan of the minty green look, but that's just me.

You do have 466 errors in your coding though. It looks like most of them are from the "&"s in your URLS. You should encode those using: & instead.

Work on cleaning up the code, maybe add some color to the background, and you've got a great site. Good job.

Thank you very much (aswell the first poster) for your comments! Could you please elaborate on your 466 errors comment? I would like to fix that asap, but would like a little more detail on what you mean? Does this have something to do with a "validator"? I don't know what that means.

Validator - http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://wastetheweb.com/

Looks good to me, only thing I feel is maybe that you should have different pages for different genres?

Thanks and yeah; lots of mistakes, but what diffrences am I going to notice apon making those corrections? As for the genres thing, I have divided games into sections, but remain all on the index, whether I change that, I am not sure yet.

Thanks,

Chris

Good job - bookmarked ;)

Visually - not a big fan of the dark background, but hey, I had fun anyway!

Hey,

It's looking good.
The colour scheme is now different to what it was when you first posted it and it looks much much better.

I'm quite a fan of the darker colours for such sites. There is a time and a place for light, white, professional colours and a flash games site is not it so I think it works really well.

I think the biggest thing you have going for you is that you have such a simple layout ... every game on one page... no complex navigation, no stupid ads in the way, straight to the point. I think the whole simplicity deal will win you a fair few returning visitors.

According to google and alexa no sites are yet linked with you.. get that on the go so that you can get a few new visitors and a better google PR... and let the good times role.. I think if you advertise it right you can do very well from it indeed!

Grey and orange/yellow.. all on one page.. reminds me of Sinister T-Shirts (http://www.sinistert-shirts.com) :]

Hehe, I recognise that site look! Its actually a script I wrote 3 years ago which I sold to someone, and then it got re-sold over and over. Its always funny when I see the old thing again :p

Anyways, nice work on the colour scheme, The borders on the category sections look really nice IMO.

1) I love the look, it's perfect for the gaming genre

2) If you plan to do web design for real, work out your coding errors. Otherwise, it's like turning in an English paper with spelling mistakes. The teacher know what you're trying to say, but it just looks really bad on you.

3) The section dividers are very easy to miss visually when the user is scanning the page (Adventure, Sports, Puzzle, etc). Making those breaks easier to scan for will make it feel less like everything is clumped together.

4) It requires a heckovalotta scrolling to get to the bottom. Perhaps showing a top 6 or 8 or 10, and then making the section dividers linkable to dedicated pages for those sections

5) Alphabetizing the games would also be helpful if someone is looking for something specific.
