What ftp program

i use dw8 and i have my own win2k server, can anyone recommend a good server side ftp program - i will use dw8 for ftp'ing

to date i have been using pc anywhere but for publishing pages i think it is overkill.

Well, are you setting your server up to be used as an FTP server or is that done and you're just in need of a client FTP program to upload to it?

If you need to set the server up for FTP, then Filezilla Server.
If just client side to upload files to it, then Filezilla Client.

I've been using WS_FTP Pro for a few years now, great :)

I use CerberusFTP (http://www.cerberusftp.com/) server software (which btw, is free) and CuteFTP (http://www.cuteftp.com/) for my FTP client software (although they have FTP server software, too).

Ditto on SmartFTP: setting up a connection is a bit counter-intuitive, but once that's set up connecting is just a click away and up- or downloading files is simply draggin' 'n droppin'; fast, easy and reliable.

i have had a nightmare trying to install ftp on the server. still can't get anything to work.

It will not work. there is no error message. i just cannot logon or tell if the thing is on or off, my hosting company said it is not there the problem.

all i did was download and run it on the server. i am fairly sure it is something idiotic that i have missed, but i'm stumped.

Well you've got a dedicated server in a hosting company's data center yeah? Why not get them to install it for you? ;)
