Erm, can you see my forum (www.ionsurge.co.uk/forum) and if you can't can you see my site (www.ionsurge.co.uk).
If you cant see the forum - which is there, but you can see the website, can you figure out why you can see one - but not other other.
I know that this is confusing, but you will realise it when you visit it.
Also, does anyone know how to resolve this problem - if it happens to you that is.
<edit>
I have just put a link on (www.ionsurge.co.uk) so you can access the forum from there, well you are meant to access it from there.

Thanks.

What operating system is your server using? The obvious things that come to mind the check are:
- that the directory really is there, and not in another sub-directory
- that it is spelled correctly (CaPS iNCludeD)
- what are the permission settings on the directory (VERY important, especially on a Unix box).
- have you tried using the full URL (i.e. http://www.ionsurge.co.uk/forum/index.html (or whatever the name or your file is) instead of just http://www.ionsurge.co.uk/forum?
Hmmm, those are the only obvious things I can think of checking for.

Dunno if you fixed it whilst I was loking but when I tried the forum url on here it didn't work, so I went to it from your main site and now it works everytime.

I tried all 3 links you posted in your original thread and I was able to get to the appropriate pages no problem... did you find the problem and fix it already?

No - I dont know what to do to fix it and therefore can't access it - although I am the admin... so I am pretty stuck.

me neither - says database error this morning.
Whilst we're on the topic of the phpforums...how easy is it to set up? Only I was wanting to set a forum up for my site and want a nice easyish version.

It turns out that I can't create a database that already exists - despite having deleted it.
The problems grow worse....

Okay, I can't make the database, so I am resorting to vbulletin - which I am not really fond of (no offense)...
Arghh!!!
Oh well, I will do that in about an hour....

so referring to my earlier question...does that mean the phpbb board isn't easy to set up?

yeah it is, i have never had a single problem with it. people just dont like the fact that PHPBB is installed through the browser (which i have been told "isnt profesional"). phpbb rules

I took a quick look at the site over the weekend and was a little scared off with the blurb it gave - all of the access databases and such like. My host requires me to dial their number to upload stuff through ftp. Although I figure if I can get a cgi blog working then the php forum can't be that much harder.
Will have to re-read the site and then dive in - eeps.

PHPBB is great - and I am not the only one who would even say that it is better than vb - and it is REALLY EASY to set up. It's just the odd problems that get you, which cause you hassle - which I can guarantee is almost certainly to do with something stupid that I wasn't meant to do.
I am gonna sort out the forum - try again with PHPBB exing all :( mods.
