It's coming close to the time of the year where some of my domains will be expiring, but I'm not sure if I should change host too. I'm currently at supanames.co.uk and am thinking of going to their newest package. Before I do this, does anyone recommend any host that will do subdomains, php & 2+mysql db's, no file type or file size restrictions and no bandwidth charges for about the same price and is reliable?

Well I dont know what your current plan gives you or what it costs but I have been using www.hostrocket.com for 2 years now. Economy plan meets most needs.

One more thing. I've never moved a domain from one host to another, is there any procedure I have to do or do I just go to new host and click on "transfer to us" and they sort out details with my old host?

you should transfer into the new host, then the new host will deal with the transfer.
sometimes your current host will deny the transfer request and ask you to send them a some crap or something, then you have to reinitiate the tranfer... but that's about it.

When you sign up with hostrocket one of the options in the signup process is whether it is a new domain or a transfer. You just select transfer. After you sign up and you get your information....more specifically your primary and secondary DNS information then you go to your domain registrar and update your domain name DNS information. After that is done it usually takes 24-72 hours for the change to trickly out to all ISP's. In the meantime you can pull up your site via the IP address of the server with your account name at the end. Or if you opted with the dedicated IP then use that address.

yea, one thing to look for when looking for a host also is checking whether you get free domain registration with it. When I moved my domains to www.arishost.com they give you the option of re-registering your domain with them for the same price as hosting... which is 30 a year (not bad AT ALL for lots of features, a year longer registered domain and hosting, it's $2.50/month more for SQL support) . They have relatively small bandwidth and size limitations but they have more than enough for any normal site... maybe not a site like this.
i think it is a lot easier doing that than buying hosting for 120 a year and then paying 15 or so on top of that to keep the domain registered.

Not cheap but not expensive and you can opt for a reseller act. Great if you're building sites for others as you can resell space and if you get it right in the end it won't cost you a penny :)
