And I apologize if this sounds really silly....

First off, does anyone know where we could find some stats regarding how many viewers use what types of browsers? Like how many use IE, Netscape 4.x or 6.0....

Secondly, has anyone experienced trouble with style sheets not working on Netscape 4.x? A friend uses them all the time, and they never work on my browser. I'm told that it's not an issue because no one uses netscape 4.x any more, but I don't have this trouble with most other sites. So I'm trying to get a handle on what is going on and how to avoid it when I build sites.

NS4 supports css but is very picky, you have to get your code jsut right.

ahhhhh That makes sense. my friend and I are very new to style sheets, so it's very likely that we don't have the coding exactly right.

Thanks!

See, the thing is that netscape might only be 3% of our viewers. But I'd prefer not to lose them, so they need to see the site. (yes, I know that we could use a browser detection script. but I've checked those and they made my head swim)

I'm sure there are other sources, but W3Schools has a CSS tutorial which also indicates which version of NN / IE supports which style. Maybe that can help you tune your style sheet for NN.

W3Schools - CSS tutorial (http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp)

And if this doesn't help:
Master compatibility chart (http://www.webreview.com/style/css1/charts/mastergrid.shtml) ,
i don't know what will... :D
