mysterious bandwidth usage on UK host

I have a hosting agreement with a hosting company based in the UK.

Recently, 6GB (gigabytes) of data has been going out on certain days.

I know this from an server-based admin report section provided by the hosting company.

I know for a fact that this has not been from myself.

What could be the cause of this?

Is this a dedicated server or shared hosting? That's alot of data to be going out especially in one day. I would ask to see the web server log files.

i have remote access, is there somewhere i could look for the logs???

even if you have a dedicated server your host or CP may automatically do backups for you? its just a guess BTW ..

/var/log is a good place to mooch around

How do you remotely access it? Are you doing a remote desktop?
