For the future, next time the question comes up, here's a post linking to some useful pages. Google Information for Webmasters (http://www.google.com/intl/en/webmasters/2.html) explains the whole deal. Also, Google has a service currently in beta (and Google tends to keep features in beta way past their maturing into production quality) called Google Sitemaps (https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/login) that could be useful for monitoring and affecting how your pages get indexed and ranked.

Excellent info and I know this is an issue that keeps cropping up in different threads on this forum... Without wishing to add to the stress suffered by the Moderators here...
My site complies with all of the guidelines that Google have detailed in your link and the Googlebot has been to my site over 500 times. I still do not seem to be indexed.
I think I am being impatient though, the site has only been online for a month or so... It's just that I have noticed people who say that they can indexed within a few days.

Is your site catsnaps.co.uk? If so, Google has around sixty pages indexed.
Remember: there is a world of difference between being indexed, and being ranked (visibly) in the search results.
