hey, i am working on a website www.faceofruin.com
im making the website for a friend of mine. he wants the first big gif to preload since it takes a long time to load and he wants people to view it all as a whole instead of being choppy. can anyone tell me how to make it so it preloads maybe with a little progress bar also, thanks much!!

edit:: website is at www.faceofruin.com/index2.html until it is finished, sorry

Who would be bothered to wait to see all that?!

Convert to Flash is my only advice (and even then, many people despise pointless splash pages).

Javascript will not effectively preload this image but if you insist. http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/preloadimage2.htm

You'll only get the load progress bar if you use Flash and implement it. Seeing as it's a transition, you can easily create a flash movie which has them images and then the transitions, load progress bar etc.
