Honestly - its awful.

You say that you built it to show you can build web standards site. Just making a site that validates, doesnt make it web standards complient.

You've used graphics for nearly all of your text, and the font you've chosen makes it look like its a site aimed at 4 year olds.
Your tab images are also jagged.
Turning images off theres nothing left of your site.

I agree.

One problem with websites (including my own funnily enough) is that they won't work without graphics. You need to make sure that people can view it even if there are NO graphics on the website. Yours would completely fail.

It's the same as people who make sites completely in flash and think it's good. Sure, you may have some excellent flash skills and make things look pretty, but it's no good if someone doesn't have flash installed is it? (and I usually don't).

Your site looks nice, but alas it's only due to graphics.

I agree with all of this.

#1 - using images for text is horrible. no users can select, or copy the text on your site without selecting the entire image.

#2 - your 'tabs' can and should be smoother/neat. as is, they are ugly and pull away from the site.

The ability to change the background colour (however cool you think it makes the site) just looks kiddie...

no offence (and i'm not trying to insult you), but it looks like half the scripts on the site were cut and paste ( i havn't read any of your code ).

i was right

The best part about this site would be some of the content.

your 3d renders are pretty cool, however i do not think after viewing the homepage that i would continue into the site (if i were an average user).

I suggest you look @ some of the other portfolio sites on the web (with the exception of mine - as it's unfinished).

the 'paper' backing for the middle tab does not work well.

some of the text sits on the middle of the line and overall it looks bad with it.

the calculator graphic you have,
well, what can i say about this... it might look better if you splice it up and have a MouseOver effect (like the XP buttons maybe) also have a onMouseDown effect to make them look like they are being pressed.

to add to the mouseOver you might want to put some text in the display of the calculator?

other than that i think the site looks fine...

note, i said fine. i still don't think it's a very attractive site - but everyone has opinions
