My first experience with installing Perl. We are AIX 4.3.3 (Not going up to 5.2 anytime soon) Some of our apps utilize Perl. Hence, the need to upgrade Perl from 5.00503 and attempting 5.6.1.
Original install of 5.00503 is located in /usr/opt/perl5.
I used smitty to install & it installed it to /usr/local. I want to install it to usr/opt/perl561.
I am not sure what config I have to change to make this work.
When I uncompress perl-5.6.1.0.exe, I get perl-5.6.1.0.bff and perl-5.6.1.0.bff.asc. Which is pointed to usr/local, Is this the file that I have to change the directory path?
Or...., after the first attempt to install, I get (in /perl-5.6.1) config.sh & Policy.sh... Would this be the place to chanhe the directory install path?
