using a php script from linux command line

Howdy, Happy Turkey Day,
Does anybody here know how to start a php script from a linux command line. I have written a little script that needs to end with a php script but I cant get it to work.

Unless PHP was compiled without the CLI (which is unusual), you should be able to use the command php [options] [-f] <file> [args...] or php [options] -r <code> [args...]
