Burning setup files in zip format

I'm a real novice at burning CDs, so I have what may be a very basic question.

Most of the setup files for the programs on my computer are stored in my Download file. I want to copy them onto a CD to have available in the event of a serious computer crash. Many of these setup files are enclosed in Zip files, so my question is, do I have to remove them from the Zip file before I copy them, or can I just copy the Zip file? And even more basically, will I be able to open the zip files from the CD. I do have WinZip on my computer.

I'm using NTI CD Maker 2000 Professional. And I'm running Windows 98 Second Edition if that makes any difference.

You should have no probs in burning zips onto cds

I'd suggest leaving them zipped as this will save you some space on the CD.

All you need to do is to burn all the zip files onto your CD using your burning software.

And yes, you'll have no problem opening up the zip files from the CD.

You'll have no problem opening the zip files from the cd, however if your system is pre windows XP, you'll need to have winrar or winzip installed on your pc. XP can open Zip files by itself.
