i used the animation for all my buttons. i created seperate text to fit those buttons so i could do one animation and put the diff button names over it. the text was just a photo of the text with a transparent background that i used as a layer to add it to the animation. all good right? Wrong! the black text came out dark blue (blue happens to be the main color of the buttons) so it's not as easy to see. any tips, i could really use the help. i'm almost done with this project.

Could you post a link to the graphic?
How many colors are in the animation. It sounds as if the animation has more than 256 colors and the color of the text got shifted to fit into the 256 colors when you made it into a gif.
There is a way in ImageReady to pin a color so that it won't be shifted when you crete the gif. Try taking the image into ImageReady and look at the options available in the Colors Pallette. Select the black color square you use for the text and right click on it. See if there isn't an option to pin the color.

i figured it out and it goes like this,
in "image ready" the black text was it's own layer (i think by default there is some kind of blending going on)
i right clicked on the layer (in the view layers window) whet to the 'layer style' menu and clicked on 'blending options'.
there were two options selected, 'blend clipped layers as a group' and 'transparency shapes layer'. i unchecked the 'blend clipped layers as a group'
BAM! all fixed
