View Full Version : Breaking Frameset on page exit from URL typed in Address Bar

Hi:

I discovered some time ago that some people, even at 800x600, barely have 400 px of vertical viewing area. They have so many menubars, toolbars, radio bars, Google search bar, etc., that there isn't much room left for content :)

Anyway, in the above regard, first, my site is in frames. Second, it pops up in a new window. The reason I pop it up is to account for this lack of vertical viewing area, since my bottom frame is not scrollable.

Well, I only removed one toolbar, but, now, if someone types a URL into the address bar to leave my site, they are caught in my frameset. Well, at least in IE 5, they will end up with a non-scrollable window. However, I'd like to leave the present configuration, because some people dislike losing the functionality.

QUESTION: Is there a script for breaking a frameset when the URL is typed into the Address bar, i.e., is there any way of checking for this and intercepting the request? I at least know how to break the frameset :) It's the other part I need help with. Maybe, just checking for the forwarding URL??? Anybody?

Actually, scrap that...Looking at my site on exit, it doesnt' appear that it's a frameset problem, but the browser configuration, with non-scrollable content. Anyway, I'd just like to launch a new page, i.e., a new browser window for my viewers when they leave my site.

Is this possible?

Thank for any help.
